Grammy Award winning composer and recording artist Daniel Platzman is scoring the second season of the acclaimed Africa Investigates television series, produced by Emmy-winning UK indie Insight TWI: The World Investigates for Al Jazeera English.
The six-episode investigative series opens Wednesday evening (12 November at 22:30 GMT) with Emmy winner Sorious Samura's "Living with Ebola", in which Samura and Liberian investigative journalist Mae Azango team up to explore the reality of living through the world's deadliest Ebola epidemic.
Platzman joins Samura, star Ghanaian undercover journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, and Emmy winning Executive Producer Ron McCullagh on the Insight TWI team producing the series.
Five additional episodes will air over consecutive weeks through 10 December.
Africa Investigates returns this year to Al Jazeera, featuring hard-hitting investigations led by top African investigative journalists undercover to name, shame, and jail criminals and corrupt officials in their countries.
In its first series (2011), Africa Investigates exposed the sinister trade in albino body parts in Tanzania, high-level political corruption in Sierra Leone, the smuggling of refugee children from Zimbabwe, illegal Chinese gold mining in Ghana and the booming counterfeit gold trade in West Africa.
"Daniel is is one of the hottest up-and-coming composers in the world. He's helping us make investigative undercover journalism thrilling and addictive," said Jonathan Ossoff, Managing Director of Insight TWI.
"Living with Ebola" premieres on Wednesday, 12 November 2014 at 22:30 GMT.
